Description

By the time SWAP acquired the land, the building that was once a hospital, and later apartment complex, had burned down. The building that remains had served as the nurses’ home. This original sign was found in the attic of the nurses’ home by Lee Martin, SWAP Kimball location coordinator, on December 22, 2020.

Project Summary

SWAP (Sharing With Appalachian People) is a home repair program that uses the efforts of volunteers to address sub-standard housing in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. A program of MCC Great Lakes, SWAP provides service and learning opportunities for school, university, church, other groups, families, and individuals.
