Personal/Project impact
Charitable Foundation Uman Help Center (Uman Help Center) received 12,000 cans of chicken, 536 handmade comforters, 1,600 hygiene kits, 130 infant care kits, 455 relief kits and 2,160 tubes of toothpaste shipped in two containers from MCC and shared with another MCC partner in Ukraine. The relief supplies will be distributed to people displaced by the conflict now living in Uman and vulnerable residents of the area. Uman Help Center also delivers aid to the residents in villages in the Chernihiv area, which has experienced significant devastation from shelling.
Project Summary
In the past, MCC shipped containers loaded with material resources to the Ukrainian seaport of Odesa. Since this route was not available because of the conflict in Ukraine, containers were shipped through the port in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. They were then loaded onto trucks which traveled through Germany and Poland to western Ukraine where they were unpacked at the warehouses of MCC partners. Some partners are too close to the front lines to receive something as large as a container. Collaboration between partners enabled the supplies to be loaded onto smaller trucks and delivered to the warehouses more affected by the conflict.
