Description
Caption: Flooding caused by Hurricane Irma reached almost a third of the way up the walls of Osa Jonmarits' home in the community of Otovan in La Chapelle, Haiti.
Extras: Floodwaters can be easily contaminated by cholera and other waterborne diseases when poorly constructed latrines overflow in heavy rains. Hurricane Irma, a category-five hurricane, struck the Caribbean region in September 2017.
