Description
A woman with psychosocial disability (PSD), meets in her house with a community-based mental health project community mobilizer. The name of MCC’s partner in this work, and the names of the people pictured, are not provided for security reasons.
More information: MCC supports this community-based mental health project for people with PSD, their families and communities in Herat, Afghanistan. The aim is to focus on social inclusion and to provide quality, holistic and integrated services. This patient has benefited from psychiatry and counseling sessions at the project clinic, as well as psychological support sessions at home. Because of the support she received from the project, she started participating in public awareness campaigns and she now tells her story to other community members to sensitize them about the importance of mental health and wellbeing.
Due to COVID-19, all project staff are equipped with facemasks and hand sanitizer. Whenever necessary, the project also provides these materials for clients.
