Description
Volunteers from Philadelphia-based MCC partner organization Solidarity Christian Community Development Association (SCCDA) pack care kits at a Mass Incarceration Service Day event in Philadelphia. On January 21, 2019, MCC East Coast staff, volunteers and community members gathered at The City School (Poplar Campus) in Philadelphia, Pa. for a Mass Incarceration Service Day event. Attendees of all ages celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by enjoying performances by local dance groups, exploring the topic of mass incarceration in the United States, hearing from a panel of formerly incarcerated individuals and community leaders and assembling basic hygiene items into care kits for those in prison.
