Description
Shadi Alkhannous runs the take-out and delivery counter at the Alnoor Halal Food Market in St. Catherines, Ont., serving meals like shish tawook, chicken shawarma and beef kabab. He and his family have been living in Canada since they were resettled with the support of MCC in 2016.
Shadi was instrumental in helping sponsor his parents and three youngest siblings to come from a refugee situation in Turkey; they arrived in St. Catharines in 2018. Last year, he also gathered two other sponsorship groups for helping a married brother and married sister to come from Turkey upon approval. Shadi's parents were sponsored by Bridge of Hope; the other two sponsorships are private group sponsorships.
