Description
Jakob Hildebrandt has volunteered at the Winkler MCC Thrift Shop for 25 years, repairing small equipment and appliance donations.
At the age of 93, he has longstanding connections to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). MCC provided Hildebrand and his mother with food relief and support to immigrate to Canada as refugees during the Second World War. Later, he volunteered with MCC's Teachers Abroad Program (TAP) in Nigeria before joining the Winkler shop's volunteer community in the 1990s.
Project Summary
The Winkler MCC Thrift Shop was founded in 1974 and quickly became a hub in the growing community of Winkler, Man. The shop has contributed more than $12 million to the global relief, development and peace work of MCC since its establishment.
