Description
Noor Hassan sells items to customer Ajmer Ali from his store, the Lockdown Market in Jharbari, India. He hopes to be able to expand his business after pandemic restrictions end.
Personal/Project impact
Noor has received training from MCC partner IRRWS to grow his garden to 1,600 square feet and cultivates okra, eggplant, garlic and seasonal vegetables. With IRRWS's help, he's been able to massively increase the yields of his crops, and, as a result, he was able to purchase the Lockdown Market and run it during the season where he can't plant his crops.
Project Summary
This project will increase the economic output from agriculture and allied sectors through a cooperative way of marketing products with satisfied return for 500 subsistence-level farm families in ten villages of North Dinajpur district, West Bengal. The project will assist participants in addressing negative coping strategies by bringing habitual changes in the context and increasing access to adequate and safe food, air, soil and environment in a sustainable manner to provide a better standard of living in the future.
