Description
The new Sharing With Appalachian People (SWAP) location will be based at Elkhorn Community Church in Elkhorn City, Kentucky, which is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The new location is expected to accommodate up to 40 volunteers and will open in May 2023.
Personal/Project impact
By opening this new location, SWAP will be able to serve some of the most vulnerable communities in Appalachia. “When people have access to safe, affordable, quality housing that meets their needs, it supports their overall mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being,” said Kristin Overstreet, MCC Appalachia program director.
